The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Displeasure Over Sizing Changes

Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused listings displaying inaccurate size information.

The popular resale platform has revised its size classifications for women's and children's garments but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.

Online Platforms Reaction

Countless users and merchants are posting online stating that platform listings now display a modified sizing category than originally posted because of the remapping.

Vinted explained the new system was more in line with similar services.

It has advised users to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.

Size Classification Changes

Earlier, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Member Accounts

A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

A different member, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she stated.

Required Changes

A different user, located in England, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".

"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.

Service Background

The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: previously, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
